The biggest challenge was that Transcarga Logistics was not utilizing its fleet data properly. Too much of the route and fuel data was still scattered across disconnected onboard systems, which meant that costs took a long time to be noticed and then to be analyzed. Live visibility was also not available and decisions could only be made after a route had already been completed. This was holding Transcarga back; they knew they could protect more of their margin if they had the ability to see fleet performance in real time. Using a mean absolute percentage analysis (MAPE), the teams defined appropriate thresholds for maintenance windows and vehicle utilization by mapping actual versus forecasted performance on the most important routes.
Optimize the network for perfect delivery planning:
The diagnostic determined the stressors that affected on-time delivery and cost per route. The teams focused on resolving issues related to higher-than-normal idle time and detours, which stressed the entire distribution network and led to delays in shipments reaching customers.
